One of the questions I've gotten from many of our friends
is if we're safe from the fires here in Australia.

I'm very grateful to say that our area in New South Wales
has not been affected. Thank for the concern! But a few in
the area have friends and family that have been...including
some neighbors who just moved to Victoria several weeks
ago. What a time to move...we haven't heard anything
yet.

But did you know that there are floods up north of here
as well? Some new friends we've made here have a daughter
who is stuck up there as a result. Seems like disaster has
struck just about everywhere lately between the natural &
financial disasters.

COMING OUT OF THE WOODWORK...

Now that poses a real challenge, doesn't it? The one thing
that people can do to help is send money. But when money
is tight, it's hard to give. Tell you what though...everyone is
coming out of the woodwork to donate money and time to
the cause!

Red Cross has received $75 million dollars so far,
the US is sending 60 firefighting experts...one article even
stated "Up to 3,000 homes have been flood-damaged.
Many are shrugging off their problems and want to hand
over their aid cheques from Canberra to the Victorian bushfire
appeal." If that doesn't pull at your heart strings, you must be
comatose!

WHAT ABOUT THE ANIMALS?

But the saddest story of all is about those we don't often consider
as being affected...the animals. Hundreds of thousands of animals,
many of them listed as endangered species, will have perished.
The massive effort to rescue animals caught in the fire has begun
with triage centers set up to assess injured wildlife at staging posts.
The fires have also destroyed four wildlife shelters...with vey few
animals left to rescue.

Again, there are amazing stories coming out of the ashes...like
the one about the badly burned Koala which held the hand of a
concerned rescue worker as it downed several bottles of water.

WHAT CAN WE DO???

The reason I'm going on about all this is for two main reasons:

1. Former Australian of the year, Tim Flannery, acclaimed
scientist, says environmental conditions had become more
extreme than ever in the lead-up to the deadly blazes causing
the fires to be different from anything seen before.

Professor Flannery warns that Australia will face more terrible
fires in the future unless policies on fossil fuels and pollution
emissions change, urging the Australian federal government to
tighten up its climate change policy.

HELLO...MOTHER EARTH is NOT HAPPY

If we listen closely and watch carefully, we can't ignore the fact
that Mother Earth is trying to get our attention. That's why I have
joined in with a group of caring people from around the globe who
are combining their passions with their social networking skills to
in an attempt to make a positive difference in a new way.

The new group is called Social Traffic. We're joining forces to
promote Earth Day, which is NOT a new event. Earth Day itself
is an established global movement happening on April 22nd in
which thousand of people take part every year.

HELP CHANGE THE WORLD...ONE EVENT at a TIME

What IS new is "Earth Day Birthday"...a paradigm shifting way
of attracting millions of people's  attention to such an incredibly
important cause without spending a penny on marketing in an
attempt to prove there is a better way to do business...a better
way to enlist help with a cause, a better way to change the
world...one event at a time. So IF you've been waiting for
